Contact UsHi Gregg, I just wanted to let you know how much our family enjoyed the concert yesterday! I am very impressed with the level of musicianship in TYJE. The sound of ensemble as a whole and the blend within the sections was top notch. The musical selection was great, too! I always enjoy the standards, but it was neat to hear the two pieces from the Suite. I thought there was a lot of depth and richness in the playing. The solos, the vocalist, the energy level of the players, their encouragement of one another ( I could keep going with this list) were all outstanding!! Thank you for the opportunity you are giving these students. It is neat to see that in the Triangle, jazz is very much alive. I like way you have the first 2 groups sort of "in training" for what is to come. I'm sure it was very motivating for them to watch each other perform. I actually saw a few of my former students the first group, so that was cool to see how they have advanced in their musical journey. Thanks again for all that you do! It should go without saying, but to panelists who may be unfamiliar with Gregg, it’s important to stress that he’s one of the finest musicians in the state and is much admired by his fellow artists and certainly by all jazz lovers in our region. He is a top professional, who gives his very best to every performance, student, and special project. Gregg proposes to create and perform new music inspired by the many legendary jazz artists who have North Carolina roots. Sincerely yours, George Holt Director, Performing Arts and Film Programs North Carolina Museum of Art
